Keep Warm & Detox On

Countries across the globe use ginger for flavor in the kitchen and medicine for the body. Americans are beginning to see its benefits and incorporate it as well. Ginger is especially important within the winter months with its internal warming properties and antibacterial nature, helping you fight off getting a cold.
Ginger helps with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, helps manage glucose levels, relieves tired muscles, blocks acid from heart burn, helps your body absorb more nutrients, and boosts your metabolism (to name a few). Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, foods are just as herbs that can be selected and prepared to tonify, cleanse and regulate the body. Ginger is considered a "hot" food within TCM, containing more "yang" which is considered faster, hotter and more energetic, leaving you with more energy as well! To make ginger tea (an incredibly yummy way to consume ginger): Cut a 2-3 inch knob of ginger into rounds. If you'd like, you can smash the slices with a kitchen tool to get more juice + essential oil out of them while they boil. Drop the rounds of sliced ginger into a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, cover the pot and lower the heat down. Let the tea simmer on low heat with the cover on for 15 minutes and at the very end you can add the sweetener of your choice - I use honey! Then use a strainer to separate the boiled ginger pieces from your finished tea. It's important to let it simmer for the full 15 mins so that the flavor and rich color can really come through.
